The Cat In The Hat Project

In The Cat in The Hat the fish plays the role of the good guy therefore he is dominated by the super ego. This mean he represents the moral part of the person. He is some what like the angel on your shoulder while the oppistie is the devil.
The fish shows many examples throughout the book on why he is dominated by the super ego. For example his Speech. The fish says "No, No, make that cat go away tell him you do not want to play." This shows or reveals that the fish is responsible and wants to follow the rules also eveidence of the super ego. He goes through the whole story basically telling the kids to tell the Cat in The Hat that they do not want to play because their mother wont approve of him making a mess.
The fish shows alot of effects on others. He basically plays cop or the babysitter. The cat in the hat and the kids don't like it so they become unhappy. They do not approve of the fishes advice so they Cat in The Hat continues to play games.
In the end the fish warns the Cat in The Hat and the kids that their mother is coming. It took them awhile to recognize that it is such a mess and they all cleaned up together. This evidence proves that the fish is largely dominated by the super ego.

Blog 1 Response- Persepolis

3. She shows in the graphic novel that there is a variety of people and beliefs in Iran. Not everyone follows and agrees with fundamentalism, fanaticism, and terrorism. She clearly states in the book that people within Iran were fighting for there own beliefs and that caused some backstabbing and war within Iran. Marji was trapped between decisions. She did not know what she believed in at first she was confused until otheres taught her about different types of polotics and or religions.

4. Persepolis is organized in panels. There are pictures, words, thoughts, and people speaking to show what is happening in the story. The graphic novel is to give the reader a visual aspect on whats going on in the book. She speaks on many topics to show what the history of Iran. Her drawings aren't there greatest drawings. They are very simple. There is no color its black and white. The drawings basically show whats going on in the story.

5.The writers voice is appealing because its the way the story is written. If the story is entertaining and has the reader drawn in then Im sure the writers voice is very appealing. Marji's character is very bold. She has strong opinions on what is going on in her country Iran. She believes she is the last prophet and she speaks strongly about what she believes in. I like the fact that she is open-minded and that she is willing to hear others story but at the same time she will need proof for her opinion on anything to change. The least is that if something goes wrong that she does not like she turns the other way and pouts.

2. Yes it is. I thinking written as a memoir it gives more meaning to it. It gives more information and facts on what is and happened in Iran. If fictionalized most people would not get the same belief out of it as they do when it is written as a memoir. Its almost like your reading the writers first hand experince. The drawbacks are that you really don't get the make believe or the fantasy of the book but the benefits is that it seems more real and powerful.

Blog Entery 1-Picture 4/26/09

This picture sorta remind me of the feed but the outher version of the feed.

Blog Post 1-Feed 4/26/09

"We went to the moon to have fun, but the moon turned out to completely suck" (pg3). This sets up the story by telling us or people where they went and how much it sucked. It tells us that this is a futristic book because people are traveling to the moon. It sets the book up so that the experince on the moon can be explained and so that people can understand that the setting is some time in the future.

Titus, Link, Violet, Loga, Calista, Marty, Quendy are unique names because they sorta sound like video game names or names you would see reading a comic or a graphic novel. He probably choose these names because graphic novels, comics, and video games sorta relate to futristic things. So since they relate he decided to give them those names. There names sorta define the world they live in because now a days people dont walk around saying "Whats up Link"....those are uncommon names. There names are sorta of futuristic so it is basically saying the world is in the future.

The language in the book is sorta wierd and different in a way. It is common futuristic teenage slang in the book. For example: "Unit! I'm trying to get my bird!" or "I'm flat-lining. Meg". To them its sorta modern day slang to us its wierd. The purpose of using this language is to show what teenagers would sound like in the future to show how slang progressively changes when time moves on. Its effective because it gives you the idea on how the kids sound like or how they talk. If you were to translate certain words like "Unit" it would be something like dude. "Meg" would be sorta like big or cool. "Yaoch" would be sexy...and so on and so on.

According the the book the moon is like a hang out spot but its current condition is horrible. Craters are filled with trash and places are being torn down ect. Its a popular destination for young people because its like a place to vacate or get away. A place to get away from your parents and go be bored or "have fun".

Stereotyping

Alot of people tend to stereotype. The defintion of stereotype is: 1. A conventional, formulaic, and oversimplified conception, opinion, or image.Every race is stereotyped in some way. People make judgements by the way you look, you gender, your race, and your gender. Alot of people think this is something to be serious about and some people feel that why not laugh about it. What do you think?
